Paulina Falls

Paulina Falls drain Paulina Lake, which is one of two lakes within the caldera of Newberry Shield Volcano. As the water erodes the volcanic rock, pieces of the rock fall away, pushing the falls closer to the lake, upstream. It has been about 20 years since a large chunk of rock fell to the already growing pile of rock rubble 60 feet below. The falls are actually a double falls, with the smaller fall to the right, out of this shot. It reminds me of a miniature version of Niagara Falls.
