In Florence, along the coast, are these amazingly huge dunes. Think The Sahara! You can even go Dune Boarding and, of course, driving through the dunes on dune buggies. These dunes are some of the largest coastal dunes in the US, and stretch for 50 miles from Florence to Coos Bay. They can reach 500 feet in elevation, and form banks up to 3 miles deep! What a great place to make some sand castles!

Mountainous Dunes
