Basalt Outcropping

After class in the morning, we had lunch in the dining hall, and then packed our "little"bag (I'm glad I got one at WalMart!). We left our other stuff at the dorm and just took what we needed (or thought we needed) for our 3-day drip east. We loaded onto a motor coach and were off. Our first stop along the way was a basalt outcropping. Here, we looked for fault and fracture lines and also for differences in the rock properties like color and rate of weathering. For reference, be sure to notice Dr. Treiman at the bottom!
