OK, so this was a uniquely Portland experience. Jennifer and Justin took us to Voodoo Donuts. A crazy weird donut shop. There was a GIANT Texas donut (towards the top of the picture), Oreo donuts, Fruit Loop donut, Cap'n Crunch donuts, a chocolate, peanut butter rice crispies donut, a Grape Ape purple donut, and my favorite, the bacon, maple iced donut. That's actually what I got. It was pretty good. If you put syrup on your bacon when you eat waffles or pancakes, then you'd like this donut. Alice & Justin got yummy maple iced Bavarian custard donuts. Elaine got the voodoo donut (looks like a donut man with a pretzel sticking out of him instead of a pin). Jennifer got the Vegan apple fritter. It was a fun, and slightly wacky, way to end our evening.
Oh, by the way, for $5000, there is a Voodoo Donut Wedding package that includes the ceremony and donut reception for 20, airfare for two, and hotel accommodations. No doubt THAT kind of wedding would end up on YouTube!
Hey Elaine. You don't want to know how many calories that donut has! But to give you an indication, you'll need to hike uphill twice and then keep going! Looks like more fun than Corp Plan! Heck, you're on vacation so have one for me too! Enjoy...
ReplyDeleteWe watched a show on either the Travel Chanel or Food Network last weekend and they had a clip on this place under the heading "most extreme" talking about the donuts and the weddings. Too Funny. Hope you had a Texas Donut to represent!
